Akiko Hawkins

Founder of TIDA

Akiko is from Okinawa, the founder of TIDA and the president of Okinawa Association in Perth. She has been doing Okinawan traditional dance for nearly 20 years and looking for somewhere she can continue in Perth. She met Mikiko in 2015 who is also a dancer from Okinawa, then they started to dance together and so TIDA was born.

Mami Hibino

Mami is from Tokyo but she really loves Okinawan culture! She has been playing Sanshin, which is traditional Okinawan instrument, for 3 and a half years in Perth. She joined TIDA in September 2020 so she is very beginner of Eisa dance but enjoying it!! LOVE Okinawa♡

Takeshi Tsuji

Takeshi is from Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He had lived in Wollongong, Adelaide, Sydney, Auckland, Philippines and moved to Perth in 2015. He joined TIDA in 2018 when TIDA performed EISA drum dancing for the first time at a World Series Rugby Match, Western Force vs Panasonic Wild Knights. He is a Karate practitioner, holds 3rd degree black belt of Japan Karate Association and teaching at Cannington Leisureplex on Sundays. He is always curious about Okina, the birth place of Karate and its tradition which is a vital element to understand Karate, especially for a mainlander.
